How to Improve verbal skills?

This post is for the people preparing for CAT, MAT or any other entrance exam.


I suggest you to follow some newspapers. Spend some time on editorials. This helps you understand and interpret authors main idea.

There are many ways to build up your vocabulary and knowledge base. I suggest you to read novels, It helps you to build your vocabulary and to use them.


There is another easy way of doing it. Make a hobby of collecting images, visual vocabulary, each word should have an image attached to it. In that way you can recollect them easily. Whenever you come across that word, your mind brings you the image attached to it.


You should follow up with writing. Try writing stories, make an habit of writing a dairy. This helps you use the words you have learnt in practice.


What novels to read for cat verbal skills?


I would suggest you to start with Chetan Bagats novels, they are really good, you will definitely enjoy it.


Then move on to 'Godfather' and then 'Lord of the rings'. Make an habit of underlining the words which you don't understand. This helps you to lookup for those words later.
